Shadow Yoga with Andy Matinog
Class with Andy is centered on learning and working the Shadow Yoga preludes beginning with Balakrama. The preludes are set forms, much like martial arts forms, that contain the seeds of asana and worked with attention to breath, preciseness and economy of movement, and rhythm.

Class are taught with focus on long term learning rather than on drop-in classes. It is through this way that the groundwork will be laid down for students to successfully open themselves to asana and other Hatha Yoga practices. A portion of each class time is devoted to discussion.

Bio
Andy began his exploration of Hatha Yoga when he moved to San Francisco in the early 1990s. In 2001 he was introduced to Shadow Yoga after moving to Portland. He was immediately captivated by the depth of the practice along with it's unique movements. Shortly after, he met Shandor Remete and has since completed a three year teacher training program and is listed as one of the recommended teachers on the Shadow Yoga website.

He has been teaching Hatha Yoga since 2002 and takes joy in patiently teaching what he loves and has learned. He has worked with a wide variety of groups and can skillfully accommodate people with different abilities. The majority of his teaching experience has been at the Yoga Shala of Portland where he was also a staff member of their Yoga Teacher Training program.

In 2009 he moved to the Bay Area to teach Shadow Yoga with Zhander's blessings. He looks forward to new adventures in the Bay.
