Come experience a joyful moving meditation in relationship. Slow
down, connect more deeply with yourself and others, and enjoy
everything more!

Biodanza (meaning "the dance of life" in Spanish) is a community-based
expressive arts practice that incorporates music, movement and
open-hearted relationships with ourselves and others to support
positive growth in individuals and groups. It has many clinical and
non-clinical applications and is also used in team and organizational
development. Each Biodanza class consists of a series of accessible,
progressively developed exercises, usually around a particular theme,
known as "vivencias" -- experiences which awaken an intense perception
of being in the present moment. The combination of activity and rest
balances the nervous system and strengthens the ability to maintain
health. Regular practice helps to release "bodily arguments"
resulting from modern living and stress, and recovers the instincts
that help each of us create a healthy, connected life. Biodanza's
many other benefits include new perspective, greater vitality and
creativity, learning to dance (in all of its senses) with challenges
and limitations, deepening connection with yourself and others and a
moving celebration of life!

The system originated in Chile over 40 years ago and is now practiced
in varied general and clinical settings, with children, Alzheimer's
patients, marginalized communities, corporate teams, and in over 100
Biodanza schools worldwide; the three-year teacher training program is
offered in San Francisco, home of the only U.S-based school.

Clara Rubin-Smith is a lifelong dancer passionate about making the
rich natural resource of dance available to everyone. She brings
diverse experiences to teaching, including many forms of movement and
music-making, group facilitation and community development, and is
bilingual English/Spanish -- asi que si sólo hablas español, eres
bienvenido a sus clases! Clara began practicing Biodanza in 2000
while living in Santiago, Chile, and completed the teacher training in
2007. Specialized interests include Biodanza for young people and for
organizations and teams.
